Anything can be convertred to "electric". However you are going to have to have a big enough motor, enough batteries (or a very long extension cord!). You will also need somebody to do a lot of machine work , and about $4,000 worth of Miscellaneous parts to put all the stuff together to make it work right! Generally speaking it is easier to let a car company do the "engineering" instead of "going it on your own"!
About 30 years ago "Mother Earth News" was selling conversion plans to make an Opel GT into an electric car, using an old army surplus aircraft generator motor and a bunch of "home brew" components, -- At that time it ran about $3000 (plus the price of the car)! The opel was the one that looked like a "63 corvette in miniature", and it had a rear mounted engine! It is possible that you might be able to get your hands on a set of plans (I would assume they don't have them anymore, -but it would be a good idea to check). Take this, - and mount a 12-16 horse engine in front to run a generator, and you could then have a "hybrid" car and be up to date! It has been a long time since I looked at the setup, and I don't remember all the details!

I really think that it would really be more money than it would be worth. If you are really interested in to buyind a hybred car, get
one that has enegeneered to be one, like the pyris from toyota.
and i think that ford may even have one out also, but I could be
wrong. but think, you drop 5,000 to 10,000 grand into an 1987
golf and some jerk rereands it in a stupid auto acciedent. the
insurance company will write you a ckeck for 500 dollers. dos`nt
make sense to me
