On a first date? Holding hands is really sweet, and showing he cares for me by looking into my eyes or making it obvious that he's listening (like nodding his head and commenting about the topic) is always really great.
If it's the right guy (like a good friend), a kiss would be great! But if I don't know him really well, I think it's nice of him to have respect and NOT kiss me on a first date.
