I doubt we will ever be invaded, at least not in our lifetimes. Doesn't mean we won't have war on the homefront...ie...terrorism...but the likelihood of us being invaded is small. We are the only superpower left in the world...we are geographically isolated...we have a massive population that are allowed to carry guns. In the small chance that we were invaded, the only likely contender would be China. It's the only country that has a large enough military to mobilize such an attack. But who knows...in a 100 years everything could change...if history is any example..(as I think it is) we won't be a superpower forever.

Think about this. Let's take a State like Florida for example. A military invasion comes in and intends to take over Florida. Think about the manpower and resources necessary to defeat military operations there, let alone the civilian force where a large percentage has everything from a gatling gun to a derringer. Also consider the area necessary for occupation. It would take a half million troops to even begin holding occupation in Florida alone. Finally you have to think about the word "invasion." How the heck are they going to invade us with sufficient force to stomp out our military? Impossible and will never, ever, happen. Do you seriously think that if someone attacked the United States they would stand any chance of conquering us? The only way to do it is through biological warfare which would probably kill the SOB's initiating the attack, if not eliminating mankind. Nukes seem to be the common subject for defeating our country, however, lets say the radical Islamic Muslim vermin bring in 5 nukes and detonate them. Again, think of the size of this country. Yes, we would lose a lot of people and perhaps a few thousands of habitable miles and it would be devastating, but we would still be the United States of America with enormous resources and military might. It is why I chuckle when I hear that the Muslim radical idiots will defeat us. No, not chuckle, laugh. Ain't know way it is going to happen.

Hmmm... As I recall, in "Red Dawn" Cuban and Soviet Paratroops came up the Rockie Mountains and did a parachute drop in advance of the land invasion coming up through... Mexico?

I don't see it as probable... China doesn't have capability to move forces and material to invade Taiwan, much less the USA.

However... if it happens, I will have the dozen odd weapons I purchased legally prior to Califonia's weapons bans, a large but legal stock of ammo... and fine maps of the hills and valleys below San Francisco.

My brother and I were 16ish when the movie came out... we were ALL geared up and ready.

Well, first of all, the Mexicans are already invading across the border. Where have ylu been? You been on vacation outside the country? The government wants to put up a wall along the US / Mexican border. The Mexican Presidant opposes it, why, because he wants his people to continue the invasion.

I doubt that we will experience a Red Dawn invasion...at least not in my lie time.

And if it did happen...resist, fight, sabotage, destroy...would do them all. Luckily there are enough of us in the US with prior military training and combat experience to make resistance effective.
