8 - 10 hours. Start on high for 1/2 hour, then reduce to low for the remainder. I do it all the time. Any by the way, if you use beef broth insteat of water it'l taste that much better, and it's cheap.

It should take about 8 to 10 hours.
I put it lipton onion soup mix and a can of beef broth. I would also suggest using about 1/2 to 1 can of a heavy beer like Schlitz. I don't drink, but the heavy beer will make that rump roast so tender. You won't even taste the beer.
Give it a try...I made it for my parents and my mom and dad went crazy for it and wanted the leftovers the next day.

I don't think 12 pounds of meat would fit in a crock pot, do you? When you put the meat in your crock pot, and add liquid and seasonings, give it 6-10 hours on low.
