It's acceptable, but I don't really see how life will change much without Rumsfeld. Politics in Washington DC will remain corrupt as usual. Life goes on.
However, I agree that Rumsfeld took too much of the blame. The blame extends to the Bush Administration and Congress, both Democrat and Republican politicians alike... and it also extends to the Perfumed Princes and "yes-men" Generals in control of our military. The Bush Administration should be faulted for the bad policies they decide to carry out. The Congress, Democrats and Republicans, need to quit fighting each other and worrying about their own parties (and re-elections) and for once do what's best for the Country and the People. Democrat politicians need to stop complaining about why we're in Iraq and start finding solutions. Yes-Men in the Joint Chiefs and Pentagon and wherever they are need to be weeded out immediately, replaced by combat-vets who can say "No." and know the situation on the ground (probably by being in Iraq where the action is instead of an air-conditioned office in the E-Ring) And finally, Americans need to stop being polarized in politics and abandon the corrupt party platforms and start working together to find solutions.
I would speculate that Rumsfeld was an easy target to become a scrapegoat. He was probably the only one to take the fall of Iraq because of the corrupt politics that goes on in our Country, but later on probably won't be the last one.

Good man falling on the sword.
Frankly changing the Sec Def only appeases the critics & ( the enemy). It changes nothing on the ground. The last president went through 4 sec defs in 8 years. ALL SUCKED......
The real folks who should have been changed are the boys with the stars on the shoulders. It is the field commanders , not DC that runs the day to day show in Iraq & Afganistan. Why Generals like Sanchez & Karpinski& etc. skated by without ANY critisim at all is shocking. In 3 years, other than the orignal leader of the reconstruction that was replaced and Karpinski & the prison scandal, there has been few leadship changes. In the civil war lincoln had 8 different leaders for his army. In WW2 many Admirals & Generals like Fletcher, Pye, etc. were replaced for poor leadership. The lack of armor or bad training is the fault those officers whoes job it is to oversee these things. The whole 508th Maint co. & Jessica Lynch affiar was due to poor training at home & a officer who had no clue how to navigate. If a burger at Wendy's is wrong, you don't blame Dave Thomas for it!!! You blame the folks on scene. Same with the SEC DEF. LBJ did the same thing. Again, it was the a solution to the wrong problem......
ps. CORK, study a bit. Your very wrong.

The workings of milatary is to complex but as secretary of defense he has made many mistakes, will tackle the legistics of it later, but in the meantime Robert Gates will replace him and follow that story. He may come up on a little resistance on being appointed because of the Iran Contro Affair. President Reagon, Bush Senior and Robert Gates were cleared of all wrong doings, but President Carter was president when the embassy was over-run and they took I believe 44 people from the embassy in Iran hostage, President Carter would not negoaite with their terms for the release of the prisoners. Supposingly we do not negoaite , We had given their prime minister immunity when he was exhiled from Iran and they wanted him returned to their countryfor punishment. Knowing Carter was going to lose his reelection Reagon and Bush senior cut a deal behind Carters back and asked Iran not to release the prisioners till he [Reagon] was sworn in and at that time he would give the the man they wanted money and weopons. The day Reagon was sworn in the prisoners were released, the x prime minister died before they could send him to Iran , Iran got their money and weopons and the prisoners were released. A investigation was done Reagon admitted responsibility . Congress will debate Robert Gates part in the Iran Contro Affair. Look.. up Iran Contro Affair answers.com. I,m 63 so I was around when all this hit the news it was a blot on America
