To add to below, some of the harder to find torrents will be in site you'll need to register with or be invited (such as demonoid.com). Just remember that the .torrent file is not the actual movie or music (or what ever file it is that you are after) itself, but rather the info the bittorrent client will need to download the actual file itself.
Another tip too - if you can locate multiple trackers (in Azureus you'll need to be in advanced mode to do this) for your files, then add these, as it will dramatically increase the number of sources you end up downloading the file from - thus much faster downloads
