You're not really giving enough information.
Are you looking at a specific web site and the pictures aren't showing up? Is it Java and you know it?
One thing might be your browsing settings. If your settings are too low, only smaller pictures will be displayed and the larger ones won't be downloaded.

The X's are just image place-holders, used in the various situations when the images are un-able to load ...either because there are simply no longer available, or because they are blocked (as in the case where your email client is blocking images that have not been approved by you for viewing).

this could be due to several different problems.
either the images have been removed from the site, i.e. they no longer are linked to the correct url path.
or your internet speed is really slow
or your virus protection is blocking them from loading, because it thinks they are advertisements/popups. jus disable you firewall to view them
also you could try to rightclick on the red x and press show picture, it will try to load the picture

Go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and click restore default box. You have turned your images off in this same area if you want to scroll to find it you can turn it back on if you don't want to change everything back to default.

yes i get them too.not sure but i think it's what email system don't let thru some kind of scan.hope someone tells you then i'll know too.

usually when this happens, i recommend clearing out your cookies and cache..with ccleaner and reopening the webpage http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
