You can't always listen to your peers on advice when it comes to relationships. Especially the negative, they are not psychics nor are anyone really. You will know if the relationship is a successfull one by how you both feel about each other. That was really sweet of you to take her in and you both share a common history. Just make sure you both don't repeat history of your past, I don't think you will. Another thing is trust. Trust is key. If you both trust each other that is a huge matter in relationships. Trusting each other always helps keep the relationship growing and going. Plus it saves a lot of arguements. Communication is another. If you both have strong communication on everything even issues, your good to go! Communication and Trust are two factors needed for successful relationships. Lastly, is showing each other your feelings. Actions are sometimes better than words. Actions such as affection and gestures. If that is there, that is a sign too. Time doesn't matter when it comes to relationships. What matters is you both are happy together. Relationships are work and not always roses and butterflies. There will be bumps in the road sometimes. As long as you both communicate and don't attack each other on a risen conflict you two will be fine. Don't pay attention to that negative hopeless -you will not make it talk from others. Why is it the worst idea ever?? Because of a common bad past?? Hey, I was in an abusive family, but I'm not going around beating up my boyfriend or being mean to him. Or they fear she will be taken back to her family by her parents??? As you said, you both are adults. Just focus on your relationship is what you need to do. I give you my blessings as that was a wonderful thing of you to do for her!!!

IF A MAN WANTS YOU...

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.

If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.

Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.

If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends."

A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend. Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.

Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

There are many, but common ones are unhappiness with your SO and "looking" around for someone else.

Your significant other no longer wants to have sex with you like he used to. And abuse whether it's emotional or physical.
