HI,

Both of my children have a TV VCR combi television which have one scart connector and no other connectors.

We have a mix of DVDs and Videos that the children want to watch in their rooms but we just dont seem to be able to get a DVD player to work through their TVs.

Is there a simple solution..the present tvs are about two years old and work brilliantly...Please help

Thanks for the help so far.

Just to clarify...the tv has a built in Video player..The tv has a scart connector and so does the DVD player...I have simply plugged in the scart..but nothing happens.

I am going to try again with the advice regarding the remote control ....that's if i can find them...

I did ask at the local shop they said that it could be built in protection in case we decided to video the DVD?? Well yes I had thought of that but I have no intention of simply building up my video library.

ok, I had the very same problem..

use a scart cable to hook up the DVD player to the TV and on the TV remote you should have a "AV" button .. just keep pressing it, it will flick through all the connections ie. TV Video.. one of them should be your DVD player.. don't worry about the kids learning how to do it, they will pick it up quicker than you!!

I assume that the scart connector is for external components only and no connection is needed for the video cassettes. In this case just connect the DVD player via cable with a scart plug at each end, then when you play a DVD the player should automatically switch the TV to the video channel and you will then be able to watch your DVDs

Maybe some kind of modulator. I have never seen a scart, but when I got my first dvd player 8 years ago I had to get a modulator to go from vga to coaxial Hope this helps but I think this one is way over my head

connect one scart from tv to the video and then the other scart from the video to the dvd and after some tuning via tv or changing channels on your videoplayer it should work, it does take some prattling about here and there before you get it right. also look at changing or switching your television mode.

put the scart between the tv and the freeview, then take another scart and link the dvd and freeview together with it. because you have 4 or 5 devices does't mean you have to plug them all into the tv, you can plug just one into the tv an dlink the devices together, the signal will still get to the TV. I have 1 freeview and 1 satelitte receiver linked to the tv which has 2 scarts, i wanted to add a second satellite receiver so i just linked it with a scart to the other receiver.
