Bound's hubby here:
The 9mm pistol (or .380 which is a 9mm Short) fires a bullet that is .355" in diameter. The .38 Special and .357 Magnum fire a bullet that is nominally .357" to .358" in diameter.
Rifle cartridges that fire bullets whose diameter is close to the 9mm would include:
.35 Remington (.358" diameter)
.350 Remington Magnum (.358" diameter)
.35 Whelen (.358" diameter)
not to mention rifles specifically chambered for either the 9mm or .38/.357 cartridges.
NOTE: Most of the bullets used for the actual rifle cartridges can not be safely loaded into a 9mm or .38/.357 cartridge!
Many shooters would load .358 pistol bullets in these larger rifles for very short-range, low velocity practice.

Well, there is at least one 9mm rifle that I know of. It's a Russian sniper rifle. And it fires a 9mm rifle bullet, not a pistol round. So the closest match is 9mm. However, if you insist on something normally measured in inches 9mm is .354 caliber. So the closest i know of would be .350 or 358, with the closest reasonably common round being .338 I believe.

while in comparison with some pistol rounds, sure. while in comparison with others, no. balk is gentle next to a .357 or .40 5, yet with appropriate hollowpoints it is going to provide up an attacker merely an identical. The 9mms crappy acceptance got here from police departments utilising the "politically ultimate suited" FMJ around, which does suck as a manstopper. as quickly as NYC and different companies switched to hollow factors comments of the 9mm no longer working dropped off.

the diameter of the 9mm is .356. there are rifles that shoot the 9mm bullet.... winchester and weatherby both have several different sizes that are smaller and larger , but much heavier weights, but within .002 to yur question of diameter

Bound is right on. .35 caliber..... I have a Remington 7600 pump in .35 Whelen (Carbine) and it drops whitetails in their tracks right on the spot. It's not a long range rifle though.

38 caliber most closely matches the 9mm. 9mm is .356 inches and 38 caliber is .357 inches.

.358 cal., if I'm not mistaken. Get a Hornady loading manual before attempting to handload any heavy bullet wildcats.
I don't know that it would be a wise idea or not.
Sure would hit hard though.
