why is it if i call an asian person a paki im dubbed as rascist but if they call me a honky its fine? or if a white man beats up a paki for insultin his wife its a racial attack but if the paki beats up a white male sayin im gonna kill you cus your white then its not racial its just an attack by the way my father is a policeman an this is a fact we can be racist but they cant. WHY????

Don't you read the news? This week 3 Asian men were jailed for life for the racially motivated murder of a white youth in Scotland.

A Muslim man was jailed for incitement to racial violence after calling for the deaths of those who published a cartoon mocking Islam.

Both in the UK.

And two members of the racist BNP were acquitted of incitement to racial hatred.

You really don't know what's going on around you, do you? No one is saying that non-whites can't / don't behave in a racist manner. They can and do. But the law treats them the same as whites in this respect.

Indeed, judging by the BNP acquittals, non-whites are treated more harshly?

Of course non-Whites can be racist as well. In fact just last week some Asian lads were sent down for killing a random White kid in Glasgow.

But it's a little bit like domestic violence; although men can be assaulted by their wives, we all know that because of the difference in physical and economic power, and the way men and women are and are brought up to be, serious violence and terror is overwhelming ly by men against women.

In the case of racism, Whites are still 94% of the population of UK, and an even higher percentage at the richest and most powerful levels of society, including the Police - so minorities are more vulnerable to attack. In fact most Blacks and Asians have experienced racist abuse, and very many racist attacks (this is why so many prefer to live in areas where they feel safe, areas that are more mixed); few Whites have suffered racial attacks, and even when they encounter some form af racial abuse, it rarely carries the same level of threat; at the end of the day, Whites are in such a majority that they have no reason as a group to feel intimidated.

One definition I have seen is that racism = prejudice plus power. If I am prejudiced against blond-haired people, blondies may find me offensive or weird, but they probably won't feel that it makes much difference to their lives.

But if I am prejudiced against Asians, in a climate where many others also are, I am part of a something more dangerous and threatening.

I might add that I am not in favour of different sentences for racially motivated attacks - I mean, motivation has always been a factor in sentencing, but it should have been left to the judge's discretion. We should go back to the priciples of common law, which are perfectly capable of dealing with racist abuse and violence, without giving a false impression of special treatment.

This is not 100% true - in Scotland last week 3 men were convicted for killing a caucasian teenager in a racially motivated attack. But there is a general pro-minority issue which does exist so it is not totally false either.
It is difficult to get the balance right - positive discrimination towards minority races is as bad as negative discrimination against them. I think things are generally improving and the balance will eventually fall in the right place and all racism will one day fade away... but until that day someone has to get the short straw, at the moment it's you but 20 years ago it was someone else and in 20 years from now it will be someone different again.

The Kriss Donald murder was featured only in the Scotsman and received far less coverage than the equally callous murder of Anthony Walker in Liverpool. The press are selective in what they publish and as to Nick Griffin well unlike the NuLabour stasi they have not destroyed the constitution, sold peerages, wasted billions of pounds of Taxpayers money on failed or mismanaged projects e.g. Dome, CSA, Air Traffic Control, Inland Revenue, NHS computer, Tax Credits etc. or taken our Armed forces into an illegal war in Iraq, swamped the country with a million plus immigrants and stood by and watched crime run rampant.

Nick Griffin and Mark Collet were on trial on specific charges not what they said at other times but not good enough for Labour having a jury to find them Not Guilty so maybe your Soviet Socialist Republic wants the law only to suit your ideology.

A crime is a crime regardless of colour, creed, religion or even sexuality deal with it as such FULL STOP.

This is a tough one to answer. I have a black neighbor on an all white street, and the day we moved in, she came over and flat-out asked us if we were racist. My jaw dropped to the driveway. I just couldn't believe someone would be that rude. No introduction or even a hello, just "Are you all racist?". No matter what I would have said or done, I think it would have just given her fuel for whatever "thing" she has going on. I just said, "It's nice to meet you" and went on with moving our things in. I have never had the chance to speak to her since then and we have lived side by side for 6 years now. She won't hesitate to call the police if we park in the No Parking Zone for 3 minutes, but tells her family to park there, as if it is HER "spot" somehow. She will have her son blow all of the leaves or grass cuttings from her yard into ours. It is astonishing the things she will do. She will literally block our driveways with her cars. If you call the police to have the cars moved, she yells Racism. One time she came out and told the police that they should make "all them honkeys" move!
I don't know. I had never met anyone I didn't like without knowing them first, until her.

I have always found it interesting that "non-whites" can have Celebrations, i.e. The Black Family Reunion in Cincinnati, or have a Mexican or Black Network channel on TV, but if a group of whites were to do that, it would probably be picketed to kingdom come.

it is because we have lost our way and have no backbone anymore!. Not to many years ago blacks,other races were stopped from shopping in stores and had therre own shops,pubs and so on, i am not saying we should go back to this but i believe that we should have a say about our country and how things are done here. it does seem a disadvantage to be white. racism should be intolerable at every level. Whether it be the KKK or the NAACP-all men(and women) are equal-but when we have the NAACP harassing everyone and affirmative action in place, which is racist whether u want to admit or not, whites can legally be acted against simply because they r white-but I dont stereotype races. There r blacks who call each other the n*(god forbid i say it)*ggers but hate for others to say it, but I have seen blacks chew other blacks out for saying that word too. Im not racist, but it needs to be understood that people other than whites CAN be racist- and it is evident everyday. My partner is a teacher and if she has to discipline a coloured child they generally reply "your only saying that cos i'm black/asian/chinese etc" she is not racist however she cannot do her job correctly for fear of being branded racist and this could lose her her job, unfortunately there are a lot of minority groups who use this as their trump card in order to get their own way. It seems that the only group of people who can be discriminated simply for who they are are hetrosexual white males
