My father stays in a home health care facility. It is run by a lady who is a respitory therapist and her staff of family of friends. I have been pretty satisfied with the care that my father has recieved thrus far but lately I have noticed a change in my fathers behavior.
First off my father is a stroke victim and unable to walk due to his stroke. He can speak but most of the time he chooses not to. He uses adult depends and will not get up to use the restroom on his own. I think that he has the ability to but for whatever reason he has gotten lazy and just refuses to corporate with the staff.
The last few days I have gone to visit him they have taken the tv out of his room because he wasn't corporating with the staff as far as getting up and using the restroom and cleaning himself up if he does go in his depend.
Is this something that they should be doing to him? Would a normal assisted living facility deal with this behavior in this manner ?

This is completely inappropriate/incompetent care you need another facility ASAP. I have been in health care 11 yrs have seen some bad nursing homes but never have I seen them punish a patient in this manner in order to get them to cooperate. They are not children and do not deserve to be treated like one. They deserve nothing but respect and if they are not getting it move them somewhere where they will care for him properly.

First of all, talk to the head of the nursing home. They have no business removing his tv. He sounds like he is depressed and has gone into a withdrawal state (my hubby did something similar after massive heart surgery). Get a consular in to talk to him and give him lots of love and support. Good luck.

I believe this is considered "ABUSE"! You need to get your father out of there, and contact an attorney!
Why do you think he is depressed or acting out??
Put yourself in his shoes for 5 minutes! seriously!
