Treadmill works great. You don't necessarily have to run you can speed walk. However a workout routine would give you some variety. Begin on the bike for 15 minutes, then move to the treadmill for 30-40 minutes, next to some weights, and floor exercise and finish with the bike or treadmill for 30-40 minutes. I lost 70 lbs in less thatn 6 months.

In a one hour session on a treadmill most people burn an average of 750 calories. People burn approximately 550 calories per hour when they pedal on an exercise bike. So it’s a simple choice right? Not necessarily. Treadmills only burn 200 more calories per hour if you use them, and studies show that people need to consider more than just how many calories a piece of equipment can burn. Technically you will burn more calories on a treadmill which will theoretically lead to greater weight loss. But that is the case only if you stick with it. Keep the greater calorie burning power of a treadmill in mind, and give it a couple of test walks. If the boredom doesn't get you down, you have found your piece of exercise equipment. Hope this helps!

An exercise bike is easier on the knees over the long run, but I personally find that the treadmill is more effective in burning calories and fat.

Statistically, treadmills provide the best results for cardio exercises. You can also consider an elliptical machine which also offers better results than riding a bike.

treadmill--much better, babe! trust me, i used to weigh 177 lbs in 2005. now i weigh 135lbs. AFTER trying to gain more weight from being 100 lbs this past january 2006. go for a light jog on the treadmill for 4-8 mins at a time at 1-2 x's for starters just to jumpstart your weight loss personal prog. peace---abigail nabi marcos serrano aka androdefin@yahoo.com or oceanmermaid2007@yahoo.com

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

i would say a bike is better simply because you avoid the pounding on your knees from running...mix in some weight lifting too...it will bump up your metabolism...
