Yes if your unable to work. Could you sit a desk all day and file paperwork? It has to be proven that you are unable to work and it will not be getting any better. Your doctor needs to do everything he can to help you first. Do wrist braces help? Then you need all your doctors to sign off and say you can no longer work. It takes a long time. But, if your truly diasabled or deserve it.

You should go and apply and take your medical records. If you get turned down APPLY AGAIN----they always turn you down twice unless you are blind in both eyes, have missing limbs, are deaf, and things like that. When your second application is turned down you get a social security lawyer. They do not get paid until you win. Your case can take up to a year but you will get compensation for the year from the time you first applied. Meantime you can't work. If you work then you do not qualify as disabled. I don't know if you are getting benefits from workmans comp or some other source but you have to be unable to perform gainful employment.

I have several friends and relatives that have had the surgery for carpal tunnel and they are fine and back to work... Most of them have drawn some benefits from the state, since most of them were job related, but Social Security Disability ?

Highly unlikely...

In the state of California you might qualify fro state disability...but federal disability is highly unlikely because carpal tunnel is considered a correctable condition...because you can have surgery to correct the problem!!! Best way to find out for sure is to send in an application.

I hope your pain goes away

My daughter has Autism, ADHD, mild mental retardation, asthma, severe reflux, hydrocephelous, and problems with aggression and she doesn't qualify in SC because our household income is more than $34,000. ADHD is diagnosed to frequently to be a disability that would draw social security.

I don't know if you can be qualified for that or not. Have you tried going to a chiropractor for your CTS? My chiropractor has helped with mine and I have been able to avoid having surgery. He just makes an adjustment and I have no more pain.
