I've never really understood this either, right down to the days when friends would come into school- I had such a great w/e I can't remember a thing! I never understood that- how would they know- it might have been terrible. I enjoy drinking, and feeling tipsy, but the only times I have been truly drunk have been when I'm going through very unhappy times in my life- I don't wish to return to those times, and maintain that I don't need to be that drunk to be happy- I never want to be back there. Plus I like to get up the next morning and do something useful with the time- I hate waking up feeling crap!

I used to go out every weekend and do that - even though i am only 20 i have realised that i enjoy other things a whole lot better - like going out for a nice meal with friend, and nights in with the girls - going to places where i can actually spend quality time with the girls and have an actual conversation. Fair enough its nice to go out every now and again and have a drink and a dance - but even at the age of 20 ive realised that there are finer things in life than sleeping with your head down a toilet bowl!!

Peer pressure, simply that. Its a thing that adults do so when we become adults we prove it by getting drunk and then acting childishly. If you're unsure about drinking then don't. I have had many experiences whilst drunk. Some funny, some not so funny. I remember a friend of mine called Douglas who for a while lived in Shetland. He told me a story once. One night whilst very drunk he went home and entered the hallway when a guy he didn't know suddenly bursts into the hallway. Douglas asked him who he was and what he was doing in his hallway when the guy says Your hallway? You're in the wrong house. I've had some good times but mainly bad things only happen to me. I've lost a lot of friends through my behaviour whilst drunk.

I don't go out and get plastered I do it at home. But I don't get plastered at home either I just drink a few beers and invite some friends over and usually end up leaving around 11 in the evening so that's not even that late.

It's so not cool!! I am a student and even I don't think its cool. I don't see the point but I know lots of people who do "enjoy" it - or rather they think they enjoyed it but they were so plastered they don't know if t6hey did or not. Personally I would like to be able to remember my time at uni in the future and not only be able to see a blur of alcohol and smoke hazes in bars (although living in scotland takes away the smoke now!!)

If you think it's cool to go out on the weekend and get absolutely plastered, you're living in the dark ages. You have only one mind and one body and trust me if you don't take care of them they will both rebel against you.

Its down to their choice - if people want to do that then why not? As long as they enjoy theirselves, not start fights, not be a victim or commit crime when why should they not do it?
Sometimes though with all the intentions on a night out to have a couple of drinks and go home sometimes people get carried away.
Personally I don't get like that - only happened a handful of times to me - didn't mean to, but it happened.

It's not. It's just and excuse. Mainly by young adults(?) and wanabe young adults on both sides of the age spectrum. Now, if you can go out have a drink or two and NOT get nasty drunk, that is the thing to do.

i dont think it is cool at all, find something better do id say, like bingo (im 23), and there is so many young people there now, cinema anything, but people seem to like waking up the next morning feeling like death warmed up then waste most of the weekend in bed. what a waste!

I dont think its cool putting yourself on the street in such a vulnerable state. Even if you are with mates, chances are they'll all be pissed and just as vulnerable. Although in your young, carefree Uni days, some will argue, its the best.
