When I was a small child, I gave the Church my coins, because they told me the Church needed the money. Does the church really NEED the money that bad?

We guilt the little kids into giving money because it is TRAINING for later in life. You need to turn them into good tithing sheeple!

Well, you start your question out with a lie. That's not very good. The Catholic Church is FAR from being the richest organization in the world. Please THINK before you type.

But, to answer your question,
in the story of the widow's mite, Jesus explains to his disciples that that widow is giving more than any of the people who gave of their surplus wealth. She gave the only two coins she had, and Jesus commended her for it. Do you think those 2 coins really made a difference to the temple? No. She was giving back to God of what He gave her, and that is a holy thing.

Just like any institution, the Catholic Church needs money to run. Protestant ministers keep a lot of the money they get in their collections.
Collections in a Catholic Church go to help the poor and needy, as well as support the parish's needs. The priest, pope, bishop, etc. doesn't get it.

By the way, the Catholic Church is a divine institution made up of human members. She was founded by Jesus Christ her Lord. So if you're going to bash the Church, go ahead. You don't have to answer to me, you have to answer to God.

Catholics teach children to offer up to God their money; they just don't teach that you HAVE to give 10% of your money like the rest of the Christian churches do.

Per capita, the Catholic Church isn't nearly as rich as some of the money-sucking completely huge and wasteful evangellical empires that are growing out there.

Many Catholic religious take oaths of poverty, and Priests don't own property. They are entrusted to the charity of the church when they get older and are no longer able to serve.

People keep spreadign this urbab myth that the Church is so wealthy, but their only real wealth is the art and manuscripts and other items in the Vatican museum. People say that it should be sold, when in actuality, these treasures are held in what is likelyl the best possible place for them. This is a museum that holds treasures precious to the entire world.

Sunday offerings, especially today are to the point where many churches are barely able to take care of their own bills. Roofs need repair, grounds are in need of maintenance. The myth of all of the money going to the Vatican is simply wrong.

So, what about the Evangellical threats that if you don't tithe, you're STEALING FROM GOD? They bash the Catholic church, and threaten their own with damnation in the same breath. Makes me ill.

And I'm not a Christian, but I do see the duplicity of Christians. Probably one reason I'm not.

Well, that explains why you are so angry at God...
But, Larry, God is not the One Who stole your money! Don't waste your anger on God...put the blame squarely where it belongs...on GREEDY PEOPLE!!
Remember, Jesus did mention that His House was to be a House of Prayer...NOT A DEN OF THEIVES...as the church often is to this day!!

You are trying to perpetrate a myth. Try selling a Catholic church and see how much you get for it. If the church did not need money, there would be no collections at Sunday mass.
