i always compare them to Jewsd - there are the "reulgar" jews and the orthodox.....

The Eastern Orthodox church is the first christian church. Catholic (meaning universal) and apostolic. They take teachings seriously. Catholics are a branch off from Orthodox. Catholics have a pope and Orthodox does not. If I was unable to attend an Orthodox church for some reason I would go to a Catholic church since they are so similar. In Orthodoxy we use the religious fast 2x per week. Catholics has cut it down to 1x per week and only eliminate meat (I understand). The nativity fast is approaching from 11/15 to Christmas. No animal products. It is my understanding (from the Catholics that are at my work) that they only have to choose something they would miss during that time. One of my Catholic friends gave up soda. The Eastern Orthodox Churches are in "certian communion" with the Catholic Church. That's not a bad thing, but it could be better.

The Roman Catholic Church has said that the Eastern Orthodox Church's Sacraments are perfectly valid, so yes. Both Churches are the only Churches which can claim valid Apostolic Succession.

Not really... it's something completly different from the catholic church but we view there sacraments as valid sort of.
