No, however, some attorneys will waive their fee if you don't win.... you don't win, they don't get paid.

Pay you back for what? for reprsenting you?

I suppose they could if they had a death wish or were gamblers...double or nothing. WHy would lawyers take any case if they must bear the risk? You are the accused, not them!

For a civil suit or lawsuit, They usually take 1/3 of the damages or reward. If you make $100,000, they take $33,000. If they lose, they get nothing. That is what you are thinking of I suspect.

No. An attorney does their best with the factual situation you bring them. Sometimes the factual situation is a loser of a case, and Clarence Darrow, F. Lee Bailey and Melvin Belli all rolled up into one couldn't get the client off.

You pay for time, not for results.

No, lawyers get paid, regardless of whether they win, or lose your case. In fact, they will not even take your case without a retainer (fee).

No! You're paying the attorney for his or her expertise and representation, NOT for the outcome of the case. No attorney can guarantee the outcome of a case, no matter how strong the case might be. To do so would be unethical and could get the attorney disbarred.

A lawyer pay you back? That's a good one. That joke does not even need a punch line.

Everyone of us is paying dearly for his millions.
He's going to run for president.

do professional athletes get paid if they lose? do doctors get paid if their patients die? do I get paid if I sit a my desk all day and think about how much I hate my job, and therefore don't do my job? the answer, is yes. it's the time, their professional time, that you are paying for - however, some will bill for fee only when a financial settlement, or judgement is reached.
