I have cats, too, and I understand your situation.
The best answer for the cats' sake is to have a professional pet sitter come to your place. Cats don't like to be taken out of their homes, even when it is to a good caretaker.
These people are bonded to protect your property, and may cost $12 - $18 a day for routine care.
Check your local yellow pages, or with your vet. They usually know the best pet sitters in your area. Get references, meet with a few and see how they get along with you and your cats.
That's how I found mine, and she been with us almost as long as we've had our cats.
If the money is an issue (maybe $100 for the week), believe me it will be worth the peace of mind.
Do NOT board your cats. You can never be sure how they will be treated, and they could contract disease (like kids in daycare, and if you know how crummy even the best of day cares are, animal boarding is far far worse.)
Maybe you could work out a payment you can handle with the sitter, but in your situation, it is the best option I can think of.
Hope this helps.

Adazhia,
It takes very little time to come in and feed them and clean there litter box once a day. So asking a friend or relative to do it would be pretty easy. I use a lady I know from church and I pay her $5.00 a day. Doesn't sound like a lot of money, but when you consider we are only talking about ten minutes of work, it's not a bad deal.

hire a professional pet sitter to come in a check on them...not necessarily everyday (to keep costs down if you cannot afford a daily visit) but maybe every other day. You may also be able to ask a neighbor's child to check in on the cats...they may be willing to do it for a small price. OR, just ask a friend, neighbor, or co-worker to help you out. DON'T leave them alone for that amount of time..anything can happen. Cats are pretty independent...but I would not suggest leaving them alone for more than 2 days.

Hire someone or pay one of your friends to come in once a day to feed them and scoop the litter. Maybe a neighbor or a family member. If your pay them then it really isn't like asking for a favor. Or you could buy one of those automatic litter box's. I don't know how well they work but you could check it out.

short of leaving enough food water and litter for a week which can b done, there r pet carers that will come to ur home and do all that plus water ur plants and anything else u need done.
if u lived in broward county fla., i could give u a name but since i haven't a clue, try ur pet stores and vets, a few phone calls might get u just what u need.

most cities/towns have people you can hire to come into your home to care for your pets while your away. They will come in as often as you want. If you have a co worker who has a teenager or a child who would want to make a little money to care for your cats. Ask only people who you trust don't just let anyone come into your home!!!!
