My anal port goes tight when I am forced to drink wine, but I really enjoy Merlot served over a few ice cubes.
My wife insist on drinking Merlot over 4 ice cubes.
We went to some over priced restaurant and the waiter refused to serve our wine as my wife requested.
His *** was replaced with someone more "attuned to our needs", and she got her wine, Mr. Sissy Boy waiter got the tip, and I got laid.
Everyone was a winner.

It sounds like a sweetened Merlot and should be enjoyed chilled but not over ice. Most reds are best at room temp or mildly chilled and whites should be chilled as a rule. Never should a wine be served hot it destroys the balance.

Merlot should generally be served at 55 to 65 degrees Farenheit, although the bouquet and flavour will develop more as it reaches room temperature. Thus, you serve it chilled but there is no need to return the wine to an ice bucket or refrigerator. Just keep it out and continue to enjoy the wine; note how it changes as it warms. It is delicious either way!

At room temperature or slightly chilled. White wines are always served chilled.

Only white wine should be chilled. Others are for drinking at room temperature.
