my boyfriend got sent to one in the early 80s. one hour every Saturday for 8 months, for petty crime and he said his lungs nearly stuck together he couldn't walk straight ,blur vision, and feeling sick for about half a hour after. the PE session, he seen his mates crying but couldn't show concern or he would get punched in the face, he said if he stopped smoking and got into it it would become normal and you would like it .fit as a fiddle, he stayed out of trouble and works hard for his money but he still smokes, really rec amended.
