I know the question "Muhammed Ali vs. Mike Tyson" has been asked before--I saw references to it while typing the question myself--but I thought I'd ask it from another perspective. I personally believe that Ali was/is over-rated; as a former teacher would say, he believed his own press releases, and paid the price by contracting a degenerative disease. In my opinion "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" would not cut the mustard in the ring with a man who fought (in his prime) like a mad dog. Does anyone agree with me?

I've heard experts breakdown the rise and fall---or the demise, rather, of "Iron Mike." I'm not a true boxing fan, but I was shocked to hear these pundits state that Mike Tyson was a creation of the media. He was a puncher, not a boxer. He had tremendous knock-down power and could in fact deliver a punishing blow at any moment. But the reality was, according to these experts, that he never faced great competition consistently. When he finally did, he folded. People turned to other factors contributing to his losses, but the reality of the situation, supposedly, was that he was an incredible puncher who absolutely demolished his weaker competition early-on in his career. Faced with better boxers, with better fighters, he folded. That was the basic gist of the radio show I listened to about six months ago. Fascinating. So I guess, NO....Tyson would not beat Ali.

I've answered this question so many times all you have to do is look up my other answers. I will say this many people when they match these two think of the Ali that fought in the mid to late '70's(Ali's age 32-36 years old). Tyson was in his "prime" at the age of 23 to 24 years old(his prime was knocking out a blown up heavyweight, who was an all time great as a light heavy, Mike Spinks). Give me the Ali of the '60's, at 23- 24 years old(the Ali against Cleveland Williams) and Tyson would not be able to catch him. At that point in Ali's career he would be on the move and sticking for 15 rounds, Tyson wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace Ali would set. As weak as Tyson was mentally do you imagine the psych job Ali would do on him before the fight? I've gone through this dream match fight scenario before so I won't do it again. Ali by TKO round 12. Better chin, better heart, faster feet, faster hands, longer reach, a five to six inch height advantage, tougher mentally, but most importantly Ali had CHARACTER,i.e. the guts to suck it up when the fight got tough. When did Tyson ever do this? Against Douglas? Against Holyfield? Against Lewis? When Tyson's character/guts were tested he caved. As any bully who sees his own blood does.

Tyson had a knack for knocking people out, and was extremely explosive and powerful. But Ali Had so much more. Ali would without a doubt beat Tyson.

Mike Tyson would fight like a mad dog, but Muhammed Ali's shots would be cleaner & more effective.
I think Ali would clobber Tyson.

Name a great boxer who Tyson beat in their prime. NONE. Ali beat the best of the best like Foreman, Frazier, Norton. Tyson couldn't beat an old Holyfield and Lewis. Tyson fought bums and has beens.I so disagree with you.

You're right, this is a variation of the same delusional question posed time and time again.
After having read the explanation of your question, I've decided to answer it, because either you're joking, or simply living in another dimension. The scary part is how well you write, so I'm assuming you're serious.

Ali fought two other 'mad dogs' - Foreman and Liston - and knocked them both out.
You say Ali was 'overrated', but skip the part that explains why.
Wins over Frazier (twice), Foreman (only man ever to KO him), Liston, Norton (twice), Paterson and won the title three times in a division known as the 'Golden Age' of the heavies.
Yup, very overrated.
Tyson was a fast, explosive banger that got exposed as someone that would crumble under heavy fire and resort to savage fouls to get himself out of harm's way.

No. I don't agree with you.

Tyson in his 20's would annihilate Ali. Ali sucks. He could dance and talk smack. When Tyson used to come to the ring with nothing but a towel...it was all business. It would only take one inside left uppercut from Tyson and Ali would be retarded sooner.
