It really just means he's paranoid...he's not schizophrenic unless he hears voices that tell him things. Chances are, he will continue to get worse unless he gets help. Your best bet would be to talk to him about it and see if he is willing to get help through counseling, a pastor, etc. If not, you are in for some extremely hard times in the years to come. Best of luck to you!!

Paranoid Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia usually develops gradually, although onset can be sudden. Friends and family often notice the first changes before the victim does. Among the signs are:
Confusion
Inability to make decisions
Hallucinations
Changes in eating or sleeping habits, energy level, or weight
Delusions
Nervousness
Strange statements or behavior
Withdrawal from friends, work, or school
Neglect of personal hygiene
Anger
Indifference to the opinions of others
A tendency to argue
A conviction that you are better than others, or that people are out to get you
Care
Drugs such as Thorazine, Haldol, and Risperdal combat symptoms in 4 out of 5 patients. An acute attack usually can be cleared up in 4 to 8 weeks. Counseling and group therapy help recovering patients to understand the disease and to function effectively.
Maybe he is just highly suspecious of everybody and needs counseling and/or anti depressants.

It really sounds like he has a mental condition that would require medication. IF you think you could talk to him about this, you probably should. If you think he would just freak out and go into a rage, then there isn't much you can do. The bottom line as that you can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped. At that point it is time to remove yourself from the situation, because he doesn't care who he hurts.

Paranoia-being overly paranoid. Its hard to pacify this kind of person who always have something (particularly fear) playing in his mind. Make some assurances and just talk about anything for some distraction/diversion. Better yet, have him consult a specialist for proper medication.
