Tinted moisturizers help even out skin tone. They act as a foundation, but look less like makeup. They also moisturize your skin more than foundations do.

Foundation is your friend (no need to cover the whole face). I use liquid foundation and it helps to cover up things "wrong" AND even out my skin tone.
Not into make-up all the time or ever or want something more?
Like other people said moisturize your face too and wash it. By washing it your skin will be clean and any redness caused by zits will go down. Moisturizing will help to keep it from getting blotchy, dry or uneven in various ways.

Exfoliate your skin if you don't want to do microdermabrasion or laser (although both do work) - it takes some time but it does work eventually (I had hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and upper lip from birth control pills) - try just some basic good scrubs like St. Ives Apricot Scrub or Burt's Bee's Scrub (my fav because it smells so good and doesn't make me red!) and then there are several creams that do work if you want to spend the extra money. Dermablend makes a creme called Chromatone Fade Cream that works pretty well and you can wear as a moisturizer b/c it has SPF, or Lumedia works pretty well but is very pricey.

get a good moisturizer that is designed for uneven skin tones...I think Lancome might have one, but if you want one that's cheaper, go to the drug store..there are a few there.
Also, you might want to consider tanning (not often, maybe only 1 day a week) and loose powder is good for uneven skin tone, too. Talk to a makeup consultant and they can reccommend a good color for you!

You will need a moisturizer/ essence that even out your skin tone and kick away the dullness. There is a really good one from Shiseido, you can check out the details here: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&Itemid=99999999&id=229

microdermabrasion is the only permanent way to fix it. If you don't want to do that, I'd just use good skin care, exfoliate often and wear a good foundation.
