Plasma is too heavy , runs hotter and is more expensive because in most cases it will require a qualified serviceman to install the Plasma set to avoid possible damage to the screen during the install.
LCD is the best for your money because it's just as good as anything on the market, isn't as fragile as Plasma, light enough to move yourself and you can view it from any angle!
I have a 50" rear projector (DLP) it uses several LCD screen filters to give you great video and HD quality, although it isn't small, moving it is like carrying a large plastic box. If you plan on having a lot of people watching or playing team games, they wont need to stand close or in front of the set in order to play or watch, but the screen will diminish in brightness at the extremes of viewing angle! I really don't want to find out how durable the circuits or the projection bulb may or may not be!
As far as the quality of the picture, you probably couldn't be wrong in buying any!
----------------------------
After reading the post from Inspector "Turbo" the Video Wizzard, I must agree, if you do consider a Plasma set you should also get a warranty, service contract along with the professional installation, but you WON'T benifit from a better picture than LCD or DLP.
Although, If you need to impress your friends or another toy to complete your living room, Go for It!

the suitable advice can incredibly provide to that end is which you get what you tremendously plenty get what you pay for. larger end type names like Sony, Panasonic, etc. make an extremely sound product which will in many circumstances long outlive its guarantee. even with the undeniable fact that, you will possibly good fortune out with the decrease end type names as nicely. i actually discovered an liquid crystal reveal flatscreen at a pawn save for $3 hundred made with the help of SOYA... a type i've got not otherwise heard of... and it has served my ends o.k.. This, even with the undeniable fact that, is a finished craps shoot, and in case you lose the gamble, you are going to finally end up with a good-looking reveal that throughout the time of basic terms looks good while that is OFF. Plus the guaranty is definite to be worse on a greater fee-effective television through fact they are conscious of it is going to crap out on you merely before later. as far as which type call is the suitable... i can not incredibly recommend you as what i understand of the type names is mere heresay and not truthfully adventure. Forgive me.

I have used all of them and from my view plasma is by far the best. For high action sequences LCD will have noticeable blocking. Stick with plasma and you will not regret it. Have fun - especially if price is no concern!

If Plasma wasn't good, it won't be as high as it is, idiot. If you're going to buy a TV for gaming, then Plasma should be your first option, DLP second, LCD third. Every type of TV has it's Pros and Cons, so that's something you should be aware of. Also, it's always good to have an extended warrenty on TV's, especially Plasma since they don't last as long as LCD's, or DLP. Good luck!
