pros:

serving the country
getting a vocational education (unless you are an officer..then you get management experience)
getting benefits once you complete your contract

cons:

being caught up in a 6 month "on the sea" rotational duty...away from land, home and family/friends.
being caught up with the "back door draft"...having to serve another 4 years of service....
being on a ship (particulary a submarine)...living in cramped conditions..etc...

that's something you would have to decide on your own. no one can tell you if it's something that's right or wrong for you. I let too many people make the decision for me, and now I regret not joining.
