Oooh cats definitely love their people, if they are treated well of course. We have 4 cats, they are all spoiled with tons of toys, treats, scratching, petting, and unlimited food and water left out at all times.....they are always climbing up on our laps and cuddling up next to us when we are on the couch or in bed, that seems like affection to me.....at the very least they are saying "Thanks for the good life!"

I think your quote sounds pretty accurate.
I'm not sure cats 'love' us but I think it does depend on the breed & the cats history. I have two Bombay's (black burmese) which I have heard described as lap fungus, velcro kitties, affectionate, dog-like & mine are no exceptions to any of these descriptions, they are super affectionate, however they are indoor & not that street-smart, I would imagine if we got a rescue cat tomorrow who had survived as a stray it would be a lot less trusting & less inclined to sit on our laps etc & just take the food it was given & run.
I have also heard that other breeds are more 'snobbish' albeit by the guys in the household rather than their wives who probably feed them (siamese & Russian Blues) maybe this supports your theory, maybe the guys were just jealous 'cos the cats got all the attention from their good lady wives !!!!
If the cats give the owner comfort, appreciation & a sense of love then I'd say they've done their job, whatever their true intentions .... ??!!

Cats really do have feelings. I am a dog person really but very sadly I lost my wife to Cancer a few weeks ago , who doted on Sam her cat. She loved our dog too but our dog like most dogs hated cats. They learnt to ignore each other and accept each other as time went by. Then the tragedy of my wife's illness I noticed in our pets behaviour changed. They now sleep together under my bed at night and during the day can often be seen huddled together in front of the fire. Sam the cat sits on my knee now too as if he is looking for the comfort he has lost with my wife. Food wise nothing has changed they have their dinners put down for them at more or less the usual time each day. To me they are a great comfort but it is so obvious that they are confused by the loss of a very important member of the family..
They are looking for friendship not just shelter.

Cats are just strange. They definitely do not bond with everybody but, once they do, there is no better best friend in the world. Your cat loves you and nothing you can do is going to make a difference to them in the long run. Oh sure they get a little miffed sometimes and just turn their back on you but, they do that to teach you a lesson. It is good for YOU they figure. They are hilarious really.

Cats can love people, but they can also be selective. They have their favourites, someone they go to more than anyone else. The rest are just tolerated.
As for food and shelter some cats play people along, and get food and shelter from several houses.

funds is often the strongest by way of fact we ought to continuously purchase what we want on the 2d. we often have a want record of previous blankets (in elementary terms particular types - no longer too cumbersome and can't slot interior the washer or shred surely) that is used as dogs bedding, place of work factors and infinite different products. call and ask first. in some situations a producer will furnish a 12 months's grant of Kongs as an occasion and that they could have lots (we had way too many cat agencies at one time and it replaced right into a storage difficulty). And what we continuously want maximum is volunteers - to stroll canines, play with cats, foster kittens, help out with fundraisers, paint the construction, despite the fact that. Thumbs right down to the groomer certificates pronounced under - no offense. The canines can get difficulty-unfastened grooming and clipping via our team and extremely fancy sparkling-united statesdo no longer final long in a guard ecosystem. interior reach groomers often volunteer their centers for us if we've an extremely undesirable case that desires to be carried out. i be attentive to that's genuine for different shelters in our section too. people have given us those till now and that they are no longer as clever by way of fact the money you have given us.

I have three cats....well, one cat and two kittens. I truly believe my older cat loves me. She waits for me to get settled on the chair in the evening, then she's right up beside me. She cuddles right into me and we're set for the evening. When I go to bed, she comes right up beside me and that's where she sleeps. All three greet me at the door when I come home from work and it's not because they're hungry. I free-feed them and there's always dry food and fresh water available. The older of the kittens is just now starting to crave attention from me. She loves to be scratched and rubbed. Mostly the two kittens are too busy driving each other crazy with their chasing and fighting games but I know when they get older, they will realize they love me too. I honestly think if you treat cats well and offer them affection, they will return it. They can be independent but they can also offer lots of love.

I think cats do see us as a food provider and as long as your putting food down they will be happy, although saying that my 2 cats who are both now dead defiantly showed signs of love 1 used to lick us like a dog roll on his belly and never once in any of there lifes did they show any aggression they were so placid.

yes cats rely on us for food and shelter but they all so need to be loved, that's why they want you to hold them and love them all the time some say that cats think they are gods. I think my cat is just silly and loves lots of attention and love from every one so cats are not just scavengers and they are capable of loving a human

Cats will take food and shelter from whoever offers it,when they want it
They don't come when you call, but if they hear the tin-opener.......
Well, work it out for yourself......
Cats are animals, don't give them human qualities !( anthropomorphising them)
But about this person who said this to you? Are they jealous of the affection you lavish on your cats???
Do you want this person to stay in your life ?( remember, people live longer than cats ) Maybe you need to agree with them a little, and make a fuss of the cats when the person is not there!
