roughly 50-70% of total calories should be carbs
you should be at the higher end (60-70%) if you excercise and play sports a lot and you should be at the lower end (50-60%) if you lead a more sedetanry lifestyle and are not very active.

If you're starting a low carb diet I think it's 40 grams in the first couple of weeks. I can't do the low carb because I can't sleep or think clearly unless I have a lot of carbs.

It depends on a person's weight, but generally, it's about 1000 calories.
