Try this it's quite a good site. Not sure how true all the meanings are though and I'm sorry I don't know much myself about any names history.

Edit: Peter is the french name meaning stone so yeah it could be a greek female version of that or the otherway round!

I agree with Holly R, she's right on the money. Variant of Peter, it means "stone" in Greek.

Petra - Stone. It's Latin. Pietro is for boys, which is the same as Peter.

Hi Nani, You guessed correctly. It is indeed the feminine version of Peter, and so means "rock". It's of Greek origin.
