I believe that most insurance companies would find this to be both cosmetic surgery and elective surgery. You would need to have the doctor certify to the insurance company that the Gastric Bypass surgery was medically necessary for your health.

I know how you feel, Where I work they allowed it until many people who did get it then quit. There is a Medical Credit card available. You can charge your procedures to it and make payments. Not the best but it's all I know if right now. If you are like me that won't work either. My credit sucks.

Good for your insurance company!!! They shouldn't cover it. You haven't run out of options...if you are overweight to the point that your health is at risk then you need control your eating habits and start exercising daily. There, I've just presented you with two options that will actually work....diet and exercise!

have you called your insurance company to see if they can at least help with some of the cost? I know its a long shot, but if you have any other malady's (like high blood pressure, sleep apnea or diabetes...and your doctor needs you in right away)...they may be able to help you out....

Contrary to popular thought...not all Providers are a$$holes when it comes to stuff like this.....good luck to you....
