I don't mean to sound nasty, but why do so many Christains just seem so stuffy and not fun to be around. (think of someone like the PC guy in the "I'm a PC; and I'm a Mac" - TV Ad ;-) And the ones who initially seem "somewhat cool" and "with it" seem to spend all of their time trying to convince others that they are not like most other Christians, when in fact deep down they are just as simple minded and naive as the rest. Is being Christian a BIG social handicap? Is there such thing as a "religion nerd"????

If cool relates to doing things which I know or feel to go against the scriptures then I will gladly be less cool. However, for the most part, I'm chillin' like a villain.

I think it's a social handicap for yourself to try and figure our what peoples social handicaps are. Of course, this shows that by understanding them you can better your livelyhood in some sufficent way. Besides, I doubt you know EVERY Chrisitan in the world, so it would be hard for you to use such a bold generalization that all Christians were "religious nerds" or "stuffy" and dull.

The problem stems from your transferrence, but furthermore, your comparing and contrasting differences. You compare another persons standards and personality to your own. Do you think that the way YOU live is completely correct? Then you live no different then Christians you are subordinating.

By the way, what makes Christians so dull, and "stuffy". Indeed, you never explained that. Please, make some modifications. Of course, what ever you say must mean you live opposite of that. Should we be convinced that Christians spend there time tryin to convince others? Or, just convince non believers. Obviously, when around each other they're not trying to convince them to believe since they already do.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. 'Cool' is not something that one usually associates with a Christian, but with folks that party and like to go to taverns, etc. to drink, dance, socialize, whatever. A dedicated Christian is constantly striving to keep their eyes on Christ, and live according to His Word, and does not pay attention to what other people think about them being fun to be around. As far as being simple minded or naive, who are you to be the judge of that? That is your opinion, and you are entitled to that of course. Being naive means to be unaffected. I know very few people who are unaffected by the love of God when they become a Christian, if they do so with a serious heart. And to call a Christian simple minded is just being rude on your part. Loving Jesus Christ is not what makes someone simple minded. Christianity is a very complex and serious relationship with Jesus Christ on a personal level for those that truly believe. The depth of that kind of faith, and the ability to live according to God's plan is something that a person such as yourself, judging by your question, could never comprehend. If putting a label on Christians makes you feel superior to them, then by all means go ahead and label away. I would much rather be labeled a religious nerd by you than be labeled unworthy by Jesus come the judgement. God help you to change your way of thinking. Jesus loves you, and only asks to be loved back.

You have a point here, even if your delivery was less than stellar.
See being cool is typically about playing by your own rules, freedom, etc (think the James Dean image). Adherance to a religion involves rules which runs counter to this idea of individual freedom. So I'd say yes they are less cool. But then again to each his own.

There are nerds in every walk of life. Look at you, for example. You seem like a real nerd to me. Well, actually, more of a dork, but who's keeping score, right?

At least true Christians aren't as mean a rude as the so-called "cool" people. I'm more concerned with what God thinks about me than about trying to fit in with the crowd.

Well, to be fair, I have some really fun Christian friends who I think are pretty cool. Mind you I'm not a Christian either. So for them to not use our differences in belief as a reason to not remain friends with me is pretty cool in and of itself, IMO.

We are cool because we have Jesus Christ in our lives. And we can tell jokes but, not gross or nasty ones. I think God has a sense of humor cause he has everything we have such as:

head

nose

legs

arms

etc...

This is not a question , it is just rude bashing. You need to get know Christians before you judge them, and I mean get to know them, not just meet them one time.Christians are a lot fun to be around and contrary to your stereotyping they do a lot of the same things you do . I am a Christian and my favorite getaway is a weekend in Vegas.

Not quite sure what your basing your stupid judgemental attitude on. Is your idea of cool smoking, doing drugs, watching pornography, watching morally corrupt movies and getting drunk?

Remember, Bill Gates was and still is called a nerd.
