~LOL~ I was always taught never to discuss either!
I enjoy discussing religion more than politics because I feel more passion for things of a spiritual nature.

both are sensitive topics but politics would be the easier one to discuss.
if you attack someone's religion, you are insulting that person's beliefs: their moral or spiritual foundation and therefore, insulting them since that belief is a part of what makes him or her that person.
if you you're attacking their political party, you're just offending an attitude or value they have about the government or party or w/e. people don't take this as much to the heart as religion. plus, the lines between what's right or wrong are better defined in politics. (i.e.how can you tell someone that abortion is morally wrong on all levels? it's easier to talk about politics because we all know that corruption is wrong on any level whether it's local, state, or federal. it's harder with religion because how can you tell a girl that she's a muderer if she had an abortion because her pregnancy was too complicated and she was risking her life by having the baby) they're are too many grey zones.
also, how would you ever convince someone that their belief in god is ludicrous? it's easier to get a person to change political parties giving the right amount of evidence. you can't do this with religion since religion is largely just faith-based. it doesn't depend on proof.

Boy, both are loaded topics!! Both make people boil when you are the opposite from someone sometimes.
I would say it is easier in Louisiana where I live to talk about politics because that is something that we all talk about like the weather! If you have a different faith then theirs that seems to be where the arguments begin.

I think it's easier to talk about politics since everybody is pretty mad about that right now. I feel pretty strongly about my religion, so that doesn't always go over well. (I'm not a hardcore religious person, I don't even really agree with my religion. )

I think that both are equally hard. The politics or religion are just as hard to talk about as the religion of politics. They both find ways to intertwine.

Religion is easier for me because it seems my words come from somewhere outside myself and i just know what to say. Politics is harder for me to express.

That is a tough question. i would go with religion being tougher.
a) it is a personal matter for many people and they may be uncomfortable sharing their beliefs with others.
b)yet others want to share their beliefs and convert you. This can lead to some heated discussions.
c) religion is part of your core beliefs and to discuss it with someone who does not share those beliefs or questions them can again lead to angry and stressful exchanges.
Wow. Religion and politics are a lot alike. ;-p

Either or it doesn't matter...I use them both to get rid of people that i don't need around me: Religion with atheists, Politics with liberals which are the same cuz both are ignorant to the facts and have no real argument or solutions.
