Child support worker here. Go to your local child support agency (where your order originated) and tell them your ex is in Arkansas and you want them to do an interstate action. You will need to fill out URESA papers attesting to the amount owed. There are many ways they will be able to locate him even if you don't have an address. If he is working TN will ask AR to enforce and send an income withholding. You're correct that if you have a state warrant it is only good in TN--however (depending on the state) if he is far enough behind, request a criminal action be initiated--those warrants are good throughout the US! Good Luck!

My ex lives in florida, we were married in NY divorced in Az. Arizona did nothing to persue any support from this man while our son was a minor child. Our son is now 24 yrs old, and just found out the other day, there is thousands of dollars sitting in the state of Arizona collected by child support. I called and asked, they told me, they cannot legally release it to me, because Florida has to do a court judement for this to be paid, apparently my ex has been paying weekly, through his employer. Apparently Az, isn't rushing the issue, and the way I see it, is they are collecting interest off of all of this money. Now tell me that isn't a crock of crap, blew me away.

So apparently between two states does cause problems.

Go to or call your local district or state's attorney. Every one of them has a non-support office for the purpose of collecting unpaid child support. They can and routinely do interstate enforcement, and locate payors thru their social security number. It may take a while -- sometimes years -- to collect, but it beats doing nothing. If you were not married to the other parent you will have to bring with you a court order or some other proof of paternity.

you absolutely can get child support across state lines. find your local child support office (probably under child support under the government section in your phone book, or call the prosecutor's office and they'll tell you.) Even if you can't find him right away, the money can accrue until he finally surfaces, no matter how long that takes. Provide all the information you can, and be persistent. If I can do it, anyone can.

I live in IN and my ex lives in GA. I paid the co i live in to enforce my child support. but, after a few yrs i got tired of waiting and got on the internet and typed in child support and found a web site that found him and got my child support going for me. the co i live in did have a bench warrant for his arrest. he owed over $10,000 so it was considered a felony. he would have gone to jail but he went to the court in his town and started paying instead. well, actually, they started garnishing his wages.

ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS LIKE HE IS GETTING AWAY WITH NOT PAYING CHILD SUPPORT THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO HIM 1) WHEN HE FILES A TAX RETURN THEY WILL TAKE OUT WHAT HE OWES YOU FIRST. 2) HIS STATE TAX RETURN WILL BE GARNISHED. (EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE IN DIFFERENT STATES) I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE I WAS LIVING IN GB, WI AND MY DAUGHTERS FATHER HAD HIS WAGES GARNISHED FROM PA. IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO GET THE MONEY BUT IT WILL HAPPEN. GOD BLESS

First, this boyfriend of yours isn't your husband and does not stay with you, so why could you decrease off your individual reward? His economic concern has no bearing on yours (he does not stay with you, suitable?) If the newborn he has isn't yours, then that's his accountability to guard that newborn regardless. If the newborn in question is your newborn (and his), then resolve that difficulty by making use of getting married. in case you're receiving reward for a newborn it is yours and not his, then why could you decrease you cash help?
