Okay, I love my husband, and he loves McDonalds. We go there two to three times a week, which seems like a lot to me, especially when my hubby is struggling to lose weight (he's in the Air Force and has to stick to physical training requirements). I know he really wants to eat healthier, but seems like whenever we're out, we end up eating at either Micky Dees or some other fast food joint. We probably eat fast food four times a week! He is always saying how he wants to eat "junk" less often, but I don't want to nag him or be his mother, reminding him not to eat that stuff--he has to want to change himself! And, I have to admit that when I'm with him, in the drive through line, though I know I ought to order a salad or fruit or something, I always actually WANT a double cheeseburger and fries, so I end up getting that. Though I'm not struggling with my weight, I know how unhealthy that stuff is, and I don't want to eat it all the time! What should I do?

Take him to see "Fast Food Nation". I used to be an adamant fan of fast food restaurants, but have cut back significantly on dining out in the past 6 months. My excuse was that I was too lazy or tired to pre-plan meals, so fast food seemed to be the easiest quick fix. If you like to cook, try to begin planning meals ahead of time, and ask your hubby input on his favorite foods. Once you begin cooking, you might cook 1x week and slowly build up to eating at home more often. Once he gets a taste of your home cookin, he will crave your yummy (healthier!) dishes more often and will want Mickey D's less often. Plus, you will glow from all the praise:) If you hate cooking, just try to get healthier take-out and like I said before, GO SEE fast food nation!!! It's eye-opening and you will get to see a whole 'nother side to Big Macs and Mcnuggets. A pretty nasty one. Good luck!!

Whatever you do, it is always better to make food at home than to go out and eat.

Try buying burger stuff and french fries from local grocery store, and make it yourself!
It will taste even better, and you will know exactly what you are putting into those food.

For example, instead of cheap oil that Mcdonald's use, you can use PAM spray and save about 100 calories.
Also, when you buy a pack of burger meat or bread, you can always choose to go to low fat and healthier option.

Do this as the first step, and gradually switch your meal from burger and fries to healthier stuff such as lean meat steak and sauteed vegetables.

Get to the grocery store and have a supply of breads and cold cuts for his lunch. Make sure that you make healthy meals for him each day. Get creative with the cooking and he will start to prefer it to the Junk. His heart will thank you!
