Branston Pickle is surely not thick enough to prevent those hefty chunks sinking to the bottom. Or am I underestimating the clout of those veggie chunks? The liquidy part of the pickle is not thick enough to keep the chunks suspended higher up in the jar. Hmmm

Also, what the hell is rutabaga? I've never heard of it but it's listed as one of the vegetables in the pickle.

Just a typical Sunday evening wondering/question....!

Rutabaga is like a big turnip, and I think more mildly flavoured.
As far as the vegies floating, they are lighter than the liquid, so they float.

Hi Leafy >
A darn good question.
I have just turned a Branson pickle jar upside-down, and lo and behold, the "veggie chunks" do not hit the lid.
It must be to do with the viscosity of the other stuff inside the jar.
One dreads to think, but decent stuff.
As for a Rutabago, it was the model of my hired camper-van thing in Florida.Full of chutney and ruinous rum & stuff.
Rum in your pickle - there is a thought.
Ah - isn't a rutabaga some kind of root vegetable in the USA?
Probably used in chutney & RV's.
Sorry - Recreational Vehicles.
Not much recreation in farting in the thing the next morning.
Hey Ho, as you say, a fine Sunday evening question.
All the best,
Bob
