I'd like to help the envoirnment, but I am tight on time and I'm lazy when I do have a free moment. Does anyone know of a website I could join where I could help out?

Not particularly, this should be your choice. Try querying the aspects of your interest(s) on some search engines.

I think you could help best locally with your efforts. On line groups are most likely interested in obtaining contributions.
