Hi there...generally, bread won't hurt, however it's not good for them in the long run as it will not only contribute to bad table manners but obesity since it contains processed carbohydrates which turn into to sugar then stored as fat. Any vet can confirm this fact. Ideally, it's best to offer your cat treats made for especially for cats. Some cats are always hungry regardless of how much they are fed. It is our responsibility to monitor their eating intake to minimize overeating tendencies which can also lead to obesity commonly seen with cats who are free fed.

cats have a sensory gland inside their noses that allows them to identify separate ingredients from prepared foods, and can even "taste" them just by sniffing, so, most probably it's not yeast he likes, but milk and butter also.
Cats have really delicate livers, and should not be fed nothing other than the food designed for them.

my cat loves chips, he's 14 years old now and has not had digestive problems (that i know of...), he's a very contented grandaddy cat, sometimes they just get a taste for strange stuff but it's quite normal.
