My recommendation is the Navy. After you take the ASVAB and they come back with results, if they don't offer you something you like, threaten to walk out of MEPS, ***DO NOT BELIEVE THIS LIE*** "You can cross-rate after 18 months".
I can't say what branch is better or not, that depends on what you want to do.

Joining the military has its pro's and con's. If you believe that you need to give 4 years or more, and possibly your life because you strongly believe that our military needs you...then you should consider it. But, as far as being bored, you need to realise that in the military, you get to make NO choices about your daily activities, so for for years, the government will own every minute of everyday. And you may very well be *doing the same thing everyday, and become bored with it.....but you will have no option but to keep doing it. I would strongly suggest you discuss this at leinth with you parents, and seek some veterin's perferably that have recently been discharged and get their point of view on if the military is right for you. I am pretty sure that any of the military branches can use computer skilled people, but there is no guaentee that that is what you will be doing. Good Luck

I was in the Army for 4 years. While in I was stationed for 6 months on a Navy base (where I got to know Marines as well) and did a few weeks here and there on an Air Force Base.
In my opinion if I could do it ALL over again...without hesitation I would go Air Force.
They had a brighter bunch of people, better jobs, better living conditions (they do have some crappy in the middle of nowhere bases as well as some GREAT bases around the world)
Funny enough, the women seemed prettier, they told me the physical training wasn't as hard etc...
They also aren't on the front lines storming houses in Fallujah.... (unless that's what you want)
It's a great way to serve your country and do it without the harshness of the Marines, Army or Navy.
Coast Guard by the way is another option you could look in to for the same reasons I mentioned above.
When you DO sign? DO NOT take a job THEY want you to take.... take a job that YOU will be able to use once you get out.
Most people do NOT look past their 4 year commitment.
Good luck! :)

you are still only 16 and have at least two more years to make a decision. alot can change in that time. continue to do well in school and when it gets closer to graduation, then you can start making plans as to what you would like to do. you could end up changing your mind a million times about what you want. let's see what the situation is in iraq or a new part of the world we may be deploying to before choosing the military life.

Hmm; I would say you would be interested in Rotary Winged Pilot (Warrant Officer). Alot like enlisting but almost double the pay and your flying a helicopter. Its known as "High School to Flight School". Its a great program for pretty smart High Schoolers that either dont have the money or just flat out dont want to go to college. If you want anymore information on it, email me.

It depends on what type of training and job you receive in the military. You can go on-line to www.navy.com, www.af.mil, or www.goarmy.com to see what they offer and/or speak with a local recruiting office. Just be aware that they are trying to get you to join and many military jobs are not all glamor and adventure. It is a good place to learn discipline and job skills while making up your mind in what direction you want to go.

You have two years to decide, and to a teenager that is a lifetime. Who knows, they may enact the draft and the decision will be made for you. My preference is the Air Force, but then I'm biased.

it all depends on what you want to do. if you want to be persuaded because of all the "BONUSES" then join the army. if you want it to be easy, join the af. if your looking at life at sea, look in to the navy. if your looking for real military life, tough training, join the marine corps.
