Last week my daughter had a vomiting bug which lasted 12 hours. She was poorly for the next 24 hours but seemed fine after that. I took her to the doctor who told me to make sure she kept drinking. That was Monday night through to Wednesday. She was fine on Thursday but again starting vomiting Thursday night. This lasted for a few hours until Friday morn. She was poorly on Friday and seemed back to her old self on the Saturday. Again in the early hours of Sunday morning she started vomiting again. This time only once but was unwell for a few hours. By morning after a sleep she seemed fine and wanted something to eat. She has been a bit cranky but has been eating and drinking. I have just put her down to bed (Sunday night) in good form. Can anyone explain to me why she keeps vomiting with days in between where she seems ok. I will be taking her back to doctors tomorrow for a check up but I know they wont be able to tell me the problem as she will probably seem well with no temperature

She is 27 months old. Normally a healthy child. Is suffering from an ear infection but has suffered from these before with no other effects so I dont think there is a link. Has anyone experienced this with their children. Im really worried.

It sounds like a virus that seems to go away, but instead lays dormant for a few days. There's not much that can be done for this except plenty of bed rest and fluids. During the times that she's not feeling unwell, make sure she's still taking it easy so as not to weaken her immune system.
Just saw your daughter's age-I'd get her straight to the doctor's,there is a real danger of her becoming dehydrated. Does she also have a high temperature? Keep a check on this and sponge her down from time to time with cool water. She may also have a food intolerance, such as dairy-so tell the doctor you want her checked for this. Don't ask-TELL. You know your daughter better than anybody.

Wow that is so atypical a presentation and no real diagnosis is possible in this medium. Your description is a bit poor, as there is no mention of abdominal pain etc. There could be something "cooking" inside such as an appendicitis attack, but again that is so unclear from this perspective. As long as she is continuing to eat and drink and there is no fear of dehydration waiting until the doctor sees her again tomorrow is not of a critical nature. The doctor might suggest an ultrasound or other imagining dependent on her full history of this episode since her last visit and then something more substantial could be determined. These things are not always cut and dry particularly in children and diagnosis is a process not a pronouncement. A good history and physical is the key here and nothing in this medium is of any real significance in this particular case. Good luck Tomorrow.

When my son had a similar tummy bug last year I rang NHS Direct, because I always thought tummy bugs only lasted 24 - 48 hours. However I was told that they can last anything up to 2 weeks, and you can sometimes feel a bit better but because the bug is still in you it can get a bit worse again. If the child is drinking ok and eating a little bit they should be ok.
However because your daughter is so young you need to be careful she doesn't get dehydrated, if you are worried take her back to the doctor.

im sorry i havnt experienced this with my son but if you deffinately no there is something wrong then you have to insist to the doctors to do a thorough check and that you think it might be worse then it looks im not trying to worry you more i bet you going out of your mind and im sure everything will be fine its just that i know when i was a baby the doctor just kept telling my mum i had a cold and it turned out to be bronchitas maybe if your not satisfied with what the doctor tells you 2moro then maybe get a second opinion off another doctor even if only to put your mind at rest good luck i hope your daughter is well soon lol x

To me, it sounds like the onset of an infection or tummy bug. I had the same thing and was hospitalised for three weeks. Because she is so young, I'd take her back to the doctor and insist you get a second opinion. Even if she has no temperature, she could still have an infection. Let me know how you do. Good luck.

It's not food poisoning because that only lasts about a day or so. It might be some form of gastrointestinal upset, or she's having an allergic reaction to something she has been eating. Make sure the doctor gives you a straight answer.

It may be that she's getting re-infected with the same bug......try keeing her on clear fluids for 24 hours after she stops vomiting, then absolutely NO dairy produce for 48 hours.
You don;t say how old your daughter is, but if she's under 2 PHONE THE DOCTOR!

This seems to be going around. A good friend of mine had this last week, with the same symptoms and pattern that you described. Keep letting your doctor know what's going on, he is your best source of help for this one. God Bless and Good luck.

Is she ingesting? If she's not throwing up, does not have a extreme fever, respiratory regularly (not congested), then i could consider you. She is only convalescing so enable her sleep. if your husband feels strongly approximately this, do not hesitate to pass to the scientific institution. I continuously tell mothers and dads to pass with their gut previous any suggestion. you comprehend your toddler better than all people, alongside with a doctor. additionally, because of the fact the female above cautioned, you should provide her something to drink and shop her hydrated.
