Whatever his interests are should help to determine the nature of the gift. For example, my husband loves cars, guns, hunting, and working with metal (he's a machinist). I also know that their are very particular kinds of cars that he likes (he loves classic cars especially). The types of guns he likes are high powered rifles, but he has a strong affinity for WWII surplus rifles (especially the M1 Garand). Then with hunting, he prefers larger game like deer, although he does hunt squirrel on occasion. When involved with metal and such, that goes a little beyond me. I just ask his co-workers what would be a good gift in that field.
However, the intent of the gift is to not only have a gift present, but to show that you took the time to get to know what he likes. It'll have more meaning. For my husband's birthday, most of his family and friends bought him clothes because they really don't know what he likes. I bought him a book about weapons from all kinds of time periods--from the rock all the way to nuclear weapons. He still picks up the book at least once a week, and quotes things from it.
I think you already have something in mind that you know your boyfriend will really like. If you can reasonably afford it, go for it.

Hi there. Myself and my boyfriend always like to spoil each other on our "anniversary"! Ours is on the 10th of November. We are together 6 years now. He was 16 and I was 19 when we met. In the first years I bought him things like aftershave, dvd's playstation games. A chain with his name on it. Nowadays it tends to be clothes and things more useful. We always go out on the night too, for a meal now but back then probably to a movie. Hope I have given you some ideas.

Honestly,
If you have a $50.00 budget I would get him a nice shirt or outfit.
If you have a $100.00 budget, get him a the outfit with Cologne.
If you have a $100-200.00 budget get him the outfit with a ring and then go get your pictures done at Wal-=Mart or JC Penny....... Trust ME!
I am saying this honestly as a 26 year old man.... Those are the best..
Please remember that a caring card is always important.

It depends on your budget...
Think about what he really likes, not what you think he likes. Guys like practical.
Remember back to some time when he said he wanted something.. for his car, etc.
Got the money? Buy him a bunch of iMusic songs, or if you are loaded, get him a Ninentdo Wii or PS3, but honestly... no teenage relationship is really worth that much money.
Good luck!

I would suggest something meaningful to him. Something he is interested in, but nothing that is going to cost an arm and a leg! If there is something that means a lot to the both of you like some sentimental piece then get that, because then that memory will be there. Congrats!

Do you need to buy him anything? If you are so much in love is there any need to show it, if you both already know it?. Buy him an empty box and say it is full of your love for him.

How about throwing him a big surprise party?! Take him out for a nice quiet dinner, and then bring him home to it, complete with all his (and your) friends, and a huge cake!
