I don't see a problem with them, but many people who see contradictions in the Bible cite the passages in Genesis as an example.

Bula'ia Aratyme has an interesting interpretation. But could it be that God created everything on the rest of Earth first, and then placed animals, Adam, and later, Eve, inside the Garden of Eden? Perhaps they happened at different times.
It's something I've always wondered about.

People are correct who tell you that there are some generalizations and then specifics in both chpts 1 and 2 concerning the same subjects. There is no contradiction concerning those who are saying that man was created after the animals and later before them-the Bible says no such thing. An assumption is being made about that but the scripture does not state that. The only thing that can be mistaken for a contradiction is that in Chapter 1 trees and herbs were made on the 3rd day and in chpt 2 it mentions that God planted a "Garden" after Adam which included trees with food to eat but that is specifically referring to just the Garden not the whole planet.
Chap 1:20 talks about living creatures abounding in the waters and that birds were to fly in the heavens but it does not say how the birds were made. Chpt 2:19 is more specific and states that the birds were made from the ground, no contradiction with Chpt 1:20.
Chpt 1;1-2 does not say the earth was made on the first day, this is a summary of the "beginning" which includes all the creation days, heaven and earth are made in later verses.

Not really. Genesis 1 is the story from God's POV. (Please note - if you can - that God created everything in six days, so that he made Adam shortly before he made Eve is no big deal. Kind of like me telling you I did the dishes yesterday, and then later told you I ran errands. I did, both in one day. And that tree thingy? My curfew was 9 PM on school nights and 10 PM on weekends. Did that just suddenly disprove my curfew was never 9 PM? Trust me, my Dad only had to tell me my curfew times once. I didn't keep going back to ask, "How about tonight?") And that chapter thingy? Man-made invention (just to help people refer to any point of the book easier, since page numbers change so easily), so the second story (Man's POV) - starts here - Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. It starts with the generations of Man. And, since you're just pining to prove you understand something no one else ever thought of before (without bothering to find out many already understand how writers change perspective POV and these two belong together), go for it all the way. Genesis 5:1, goes on to continue the story from yet a different POV. Always happy to help out folks with a point to prove that never needed to be proven and is understood by so many before them. Added after reading other answers: Gabby, touche'! surfari, Bingo! Gerry, as a Christian who hates illogic in anyway, Amen! ;)

Genesis 1 and 2 in no way contradict each other. The problem only lies with those who are unable to spiritually discern God's Holy Word because of their disbelief. The great truths of all times have been hidden from those who have hardened their hearts against God.

No, they both, that is Gen. 1&2 as you read them you will see they both compliment one another. Both are different documents that Moses was compiling, but the first chapter should end at verse 4 of the second chapter.
Notice verse 4 of the 2nd. chapter. Notice also chapter 5 verse 1 another document Moses had. Further more: chapter 6 verse 9 another document Moses had and on...
Also for your knowledge if you didn't know chapters and verses did not materialize until the Christian Era.
I hope I was able to help...
Peace....

No conflict. Gen, :1 is the story Gen :2 is the details of the story. Gen one just dumbs it down a bit and simplifies it.
