a dog CAN get pregnant as early as 4-5 months depending on their body. Some dogs go into heat for the first time as early as 4-5 months. Most, usually start at 6-9 months. Now, when SHOULD a dog get pregnats is not until she is AT LEAST 2 years old. At this age, she is mentally and physically mature to have here first litter. Anything sooner and its like asking a teenage girl to have a kid. Litters should be AT LEAST a year appart also. This is more stable for the mom to be. Some breeders will live by a strict code, which i fall into, a dog should not have more than 2-3 litters in there entire life and never with teh same stud. Some go for the 3-4 mindset. And then you have th irresponsible and uncaring F*%$s that do more than that and even once or twice a year.

As soon as the first estrus hits, they can get pregnant (their first season or "heat"). The problem is that the dog is not fully grown and is often too small to have the pups safely. Breeding a dog in their first heat often results in the loss of the entire litter and even the mother dog. If you have a very young dog and you think she is pregnant, PLEASE go see the vet. This is a life or death matter for the mom and the pups.

They can get pregnant any time after their first heat. In fact, they get pregnant a lot easier while in heat. It is not good for a puppy to get pregnant before they are at least 2 years of age. If it happens before then there can be a lot of complications and risks involved that can harm the dog. See your vet for more details.

A dog goes into the first heat cycle at about five to six months. My dog was 5 1/2 months old. You need to take her into the vet and have her fixed before this happens. She will go into heat twice a year, and it is messy, she will have a period much like a human. Having your dog fixed will keep her healthy and happy and she will have a much better life. If you love your dog you will take her to the vet to be fixed. Good luck.

It depends of the breed and size of the dog- generally as young as 6-9 months for a smaller dog- larger dogs later.
**also smaller dogs have a longer life expectancy.

first heat can be as early as 6 months of age, and can result in pregnancy if any males dogs get to her. it is best to spay your dog before she goes into heat. it greatly reduces the chance of getting mammary gland tumors...or testicular cancer in male dogs...if your doggie is already p.g., spay her after her first litter is weaned. i'm a huge advocate for spaying and neutering! if you can't afford the cost, many humane society shelters will perform the surgery for free or at a greatly reduced cost if you do a certain amount of volunteer hours. also, check your county for a P.A.W.S. organization...they are super great to deal with and can help pay for spay/neuter costs, and sometimes for free.

I believe a early as their first heat (6 mos-1 yr). You do not want to breed them that young though. If you DO plan to breed, it's good to wait until they're an "Adult"/At least two years of age.

they can get pregnant on their first heat although this is too young for them to have pups, make sure you keep your ***** away from any males during this time to prevent an unwanted pregnancy with could turn out to be fateful for your ***** and pups

Their first heat. But, no dog should be bred this young. Please have your dog fixed as soon as it is safe to do so and keep your female away from any unaltered males until then. : )
