A theist is someone who believes that there is "something out there", i.e. a creative force behind the universe. An atheist is someone who simply doesn't believe in God. A monotheist is a person who believe in one God and one God only. An agnostic is a person who tries to keep an open mind, but is in a state of spiritual confusion.

A "theist" is one who believes in the existence of at least one god, though the term is generally conflated in contemporary usage with "monotheist", someone who believes in only one god. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are the three great monotheistic religions.
A "polytheist" is someone who believes in more than one god. Hinduism and most tribal religious are essentially polytheistic.
A "atheist" is someone who believes in no gods. Atheists don't claim to follow any religion.
An "agnostic" is someone who is either unsure about the existence of any gods or believes we are unable to tell one way or the other. Agnostics can be found all over the place, both inside and outside organized religion.
A "deist" is a particular kind of theist in that the deist believes that God created the world as generally described in the Christian sense, but then walked away and has left the universe to its own devices. This view was briefly popular in the 17th and 18th centuries, but maintains little lasting prevalence.

Here's a concise answer:
1) Theist = a person that believes in a God
2) Atheist = a person that does not believe in a God
3) Monotheist = a person that only believes in ONE God (e.g a Christian)
4) Agnostic = Somone who is not sure whether God exists or not
OR Someone who believes you cannot decide because there is not enough evidence either way.

the issue with the favourite public of those that declare to be 'atheists' is they experience they might desire to act in an inflammatory thank you to get their element in the time of. A minimum form of the atheists that peruse this internet site have even seen theology, not to show studied non secular philosophy. Even fewer are arranged to produce seen arguments against non secular techniques. in my opinion, i'm an atheist. i don't, even though, have faith faith is inaccurate. as long as a guy or woman's own ideals do not infringe on my existence then all's properly. i think that atheists and believers must be waiting to have interplay in communique approximately their opposing ideals with out rancour because of the fact perception ought to in basic terms be threatened by ability of a valid argument. i've got not yet stumbled on a non secular argument that may convince me to alter my innovations. further i could clarify my ideals and percieved inconsistancies in faith to somebody who grew to become into fascinated, not in an attempt to discredit faith yet to have them evaluate and substitute veiwpoint. To counter a number of your factors, this is as useful to state "there is not any God" and "technological know-how is suitable" as that's to declare "there is God" and "technological know-how is inaccurate" as you have not any actual desire of proving the two maximum suitable. and not which ability to insult or belittle you, grammar is spelt... grammar. the issue with a non secular reaction to an atheist's question is that it continuously falls back to a similar answer - God. an particularly unsatisfactory rationalization for any phenomenon. I settle for that there are some issues we are able to in no way comprehend, yet i think it is area of existence. Is it smarter to respond to the insoluble with God, or to settle for that we won't be able to yet desire we are able to sometime comprehend? Message me in case you choose to talk.

i dunno what a theist is. An athiest is someone who doesnt believe in god, but an agnostic is someone who is searching for the right religion (athists aren't, they just think there is no God and thats that)..i think anyway. Monotheists are people who believe in one God ie muslims, jewish people etc..
