trap us into angry and Unchristian responses, and we simply began to ask and answer peaceful and honestly put questions. What if Christians asked questions we all have about scriptures, faith life and practice, theology, and Christian living.

Imagine how much more peaceful the R and S section would be, and how much our blood pressure would go down ,if we simply left the haters and baiters (and that includes so called Christian haters and baiters) to their own devices. Imagine what this board would be like if we as Christians also asked intelligent, curious, and loving questions about faith paths that are different than ours?

We aren't going to convince the haters and baiters of anything at all, and clearly they are in no place to want to hear the message, and we are in no kind of relationship with them where we could be of any help.

So why don't we take the high road and discuss faith issues. The baiters would then get bored. imagine the peaceful, intelligent board.

Erica -- I am well aware! If you go back and read my post you'll see that I specify that there are many Christian baiters as well.

Also, I don't mind being challenged and debated politely and intelligently. However there is much baiting here on all sides that tries to put on a mask of intelligent debate, when it is clearly anything but.

If I fall into a baiting trap, I take full responsibility for it. But that doesn't negate the fact that a trap was laid.

And much of what I mean takes the form of so called "questions" about this action or that action in the Bible, while totally misrepresenting the context or leaving out important contextual clues. That is not intelligent debate, that is baiting. Now, to be fair, I believe that many people who post these questions honestly don't research the context, and are simply falling prey to someone else's intellectual dishonesty.

That is good advise. Let's wait and see how many follow it.

People are allowed to their own opinion and we should not let another person's opinion influence us in a bad way.

I guess I can be more tolerant because I have been on all sides and understand each position.

I was once a Christian who believed the bible literally and believed that one must follow it strictly.

I was one of those personal Evangelist who witnessed and taught the word of God in all situations of life. I guess, if I am honest with myself, maybe I was a Little too gung ho and force-full, but I believed I was acting out of love and I was at the time. I loved God and his word and lost sinners and felt a duty to tell others the truth.

I am now pagan, Wiccan to be exact and believe Deity is in all and everything. All paths lead to Deity is my belief now. I understand the frustration that comes when someone is forceful in their views and feel the need to preach to everyone.

I just try to remind myself that each person is just doing what they believe is right and each person must follow their own path and hopefully i can be tolerant of others beliefs even if they are not tolerant of mine.

I can only imagine how interesting that would be.... hundreds of "Do you love Jesus" questions with thousands of "I love Jesus" answers...

Actually, it's a pretty good idea from an atheist perspective. I'd give you all 3-6 months before you bore each other enough not to post at all...

sounds .........BORING

the thing is, i'm not sure you correctly identify just who these "haters" and "baiters" are. some of those you might classify as "haters and baiters" are so much more enlightened, spiritual and educated in the bible then so many self-professed christians.

surely you know the old story? .........goes:
guy dies and goes to heaven. standin there scratchin his head, he sez, "God, how did i get here? everyday of my life i have rejected you, denounced you, defamed you, blamed you for everything." God looks down on him and sez, "yes, my son, every day of your life you have thought of me, spoke to me, spoke of me to others, carried me in your heart. Now, if I could just get some of these Christians to do that...... ."

You wouldn't be trapped into Unchristian responses, if Unchristian responses weren't in your nature. If they are, let them out. And accept they are there.

"What if all of us Christians refused to answer the baitng questions that are clearly meant to anger us and trap us into angry and Unchristian responses"

TRAP you?

You're not responsible for your own actions and behavior?

How interesting.

I never ask baiting or hating questions (you can check) but I find Christians don't tend to answer them anyway; I get fed up with people just agreeing with me. I've always presumed this is because Christians don't deal too well with informed logic, but I dunno, maybe they're doing what you say.

They only write these hate full questions because they're lost and they're full of anger. They just want to pass on some of the anger, rage and hard hearted feelings that consumes they're bitter lives.

Who says our responses to these people has to be unchristian? I don't remember Jesus just playing it safe and not helping those who didn't believe.

Most of what you consider designed to make you angry isn't designed to make you angry it's designed to make you think. But you don't like thinking so you get angry at it. If you don't want to think fine don't read the question I don't care it's you that will be missing out. Say no to jesus
