I have checked on eBay and many different office and file cabinet sites including office depot, staples, and the like, but I cannot seem to find burgundy and other richer colors in file cabinets without paying like $500 -900 just for one to be painted. Thanks if anyone knows.

I have painted file cabinets with inexpensive spray paint and they came out great. I suggest that you go to a hardware store, pick out the paint you like and spray them yourselves. This way, a $150 cabinet will cost you $155 after you add in the $5 can of paint.

When I painted my cabinet, I removed all the handles and trim, sanded the surface, then painted. The two cabinets that I painted are used all the time and the new paint has held up nicely. I painted them bright blue.

If you don't want to paint them yourself, see if an autobody repair shop will paint them for you. It will cost you some but you'll get very professional work and you won't have to deal with the mess and paint fumes.

I think brightly colored cabinets are a terrific idea, so I hope you find a way to get this done.
