There are many sources for help and financial aid for college students. All of the items that I mention are free to access and use to the individual.

First, apply to FAFSA.ed.gov either after January 1 of your senior year of high school and each college year while attending college up until you reach your senior year. It will help you tap into federal and college financial assistance based on your family's income and financial resources.

Second, search your state's government website for college scholarships or grants. The state does give away money to college students who meet certain criteria either financial or grades wise.

Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for its students currently attending to apply for consideration.

Fourth, college financial aid websites have a list of private scholarships available from companies and organizations. Sometimes, college major information areas have this information, too.

Fifth, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for scholarships based on college major, ethnicity, and religion. There are some college majors that have scholarships attached to it such as nursing and education.

Finally, join several free scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most often offer customized searches based on the information you enter.

Good luck!

www.gov.com will give you some grant info. Most of them though, charge you for a book that will tell you how to apply.
