i dont exactly know what you're looking for, but when i was little, my grandma and i made some ornaments out of pudding cups. we took them and filled them with red and green potpourri and glued colorful paper over the tops, then turned them upside down and hung them with little hooks, they were pretty and smelled good.

You will need a styrofoam ball, some small fabric squares about 3" x 3", some pretty ribbon, a pencil and fabric glue.

Take one of the squares and put it over the tip of the pencil, add a litttle bit of the fabric glue to the tip of the fabric and push into the styrofoam ball. Keep repeating until the entire ball is covered. Make sure you get as close to the other peice of fabric as you can so the ball looks filled in. Next cut a piece of the ribbon and glue to the ball to hold the ball on the tree. Very Simple to do and is very pretty when you use bright colored Christmas fabric.

You could make dangling mirrors to reflect the lights in the tree. You need:
a bunch of small, coin size mirrors
hot glue gun (Elmer's might work, too)
Heavy fishing line, or other string
Ornament hooks

Cut sting in 5-6" lengths. Bring the two ends of the string together and create a loop (like you are folding the string in half). Place the two sting ends between two mirrors, with the non-reflective sides touching each other. Glue the mirrors together with the string in between. Add the ornament hook to the loop. (If you use longer stings, you can probably do without the hooks.)

Oriental Trading Company has some great kits for making ornaments and some of them are very easy and inexpensive. Even checking them out may give you ideas for using "found objects" like pine cones or pudding cups.

Collect old Christmas cards. Cut off the fronts and make a hole in the top. Put some yarn through it and hang it on the tree. You can also cut out pictures from the cards.

I used to work for a retirement home and when we put up our tree, we realized that we didn't have an angel. A few hours later, one elderly lady came and got me and asked me to attach the angel she made to the top of the tree. We all laughed when we realized it was made out of a maxi pad with "wings". She had decorated it with glitter & bows. Throughout the whole holiday season no one noticed our "angel".
