She is 4-5 weeks old. I got her 2 days ago and on the first day she was very playful. For the past day and a half, she doesn't want to play and sleeps all the time. She also won't eat unless it is out of your palm, and she still won't eat much. She will eat maybe a quater of those little cans (3 oz) twice a day. She is litter box trained and has taken about 3 small #2's and 2 #1's in two days. Is this normal???

well we adopted her from a shelter because her mother was hit by a car which left her and her 5 siblings alone. They had her on soft food when we adopted her and i believe they weened her already because they weren't feeding her formula anymore.

She is kind of young for soft food - she may need to be supplemented a bit by formula as well. She is in that in between stage of weening - meaning between he bottle and soft food.
There is possibility it is something medical. BUT kittens are babies - they just want to sleep eat and poop.
If the poop is "normal" and she is still eating and drinking I wouldn't be too concerned.
It never hurts to just call a vet - most hospitals (during business hours) are good about fielding questions and deciding if you need to bring your pet in.
I always told all of my patients - if you are worried enough to call then perhaps you should put your worries at ease and come in to get it checked out.

Good luck!

No it is not normal. If your kitten is really only 4-5 weeks old, it is not ready to be weened and needs to be bottle fed every 2 hours or so. At 6 weeks is when they can begin to have very soft food.

4-5 weeks is WAY too young.. 6-8 is better..so I suspect that is part of the problem
she should be eating dry food not just canned but the canned should be given 4-5 times a day at that age.. chicken and rice formula ONLY.. and not a whole can each time...
the better food you feed the less she will need to eat and the less she will poop
have her vet checked and dewormed and vaccinated
NO MILK!

Do yourself and that poor kitten a favor and call your local veterinarian! Don't attempt to sift through which answers may be accurate and which may not be, while there could potentially be something wrong with your kitten. At least if you call your local vet, you will get an accurate answer right away and can do something to help the kitten immediately, if there is something wrong.
