The conviction and death sentence for Saddam Hussein, handed down just two days before midterm elections in the U.S., was a transparent attempt to deflect attention from the crimes the U.S. commits--day in and day out--in Iraq.
When the Iraqi regime massacred the Kurds in 1988, the U.S. was silent--because Saddam Hussein was then a loyal ally, backed by Washington in his decade-long war on Iran. The U.S. supplied Iraq with the know-how and materials to make the poison gas that inflicted this horrible crime against humanity.
For these reasons the Bush regime should also be on trial in Iraq for the war crimes they have commited.

iraq51 - you should move to Washington, DC and talk to some people there. See what a dupe for the ruling class you have been.

I agree with you, but as someone else said the US does not recognize the World Court, (Bush's decision,) I wonder why? In my books, Henry Kissinger would be the 1st up against the wall.
I really cannot believe that after all that has come to the service, people like LYRA still refuse to accept reality.

You must be one of the most ignorant people in the world. Where do you get your facts from that the US commited crimes in Iraq. With the exception of a few soilders the Military as a whole has commited no crimes. When you make an accusation as to whether or not someone commited crime, heres a thought...why dont you offer some evidence instead of getting your info from some hate filled smear merchant like Frank Rich, AL Franken or Michael Moore. The US is a good country and we have brought freedom to billons of people. We have made some mistakes sure but overall we have good intentions. If you dont like it move to France and go burn down the suburbs with the rest of the immigrants there and watch the goverment sit idly by and do nothing because they have no honor or courage. O and one more thing heres where that thing called proof comes in. Wheres your proof that Bush 41 new anything of Saddam gassing the Kurds anyways? If you want to start stringing people up for knowledge of crimes. It has been brought up and several sources confirm that the Vatican during WWII knew about Hitler and the Nazis killing Jews why dont you drag them before the World Court and demand answers. Whatever im done with you.

Gee the national elections for Congress just ended and I didn't see your name on the winner's list. Instead of complaining take some action.
Oh...me? I spent 18 months in Iraq and 99% of the Iraqi people I spoke with in Baghdad, Tikrit, Al Kut, Kirkuk, Ur and Babylon were glad to have the US there....both in a military sense and to assist in rebuilding their schools, hospitals, highways, power and water plants and on and on.
And although I am a former US army officer, I was in Iraq working as a civilian.
You should go to Iraq time and speak with the people. That way you can form your own opinion instead of relying on the media.

Hey! You're right! If someone commits murder and another person watches and says nothing the second person is just as guilty as the first. So, yeah, it should work the same way for countries and their leaders, right? In a perfect world! Anyway, history will put Bush on trial even if the world courts are too chicken to do it now.

You waste our time.
Rummy's speaking at Kansas State! Love him!
You're an idiot. You will never make a positive contribution in history like Rumsfeld did during his illustrious career.

Listen if your are going to start from the beginning we should be on trial for many things that we have done over the years. Sometime in the future we probably will be on trial and will have to pay money to everyone we hurt. Just like we did to the japanese during wwII.

See, now I don't have to agree with you again. Thanks! This is simply foolish! Neither the US or the Bush administration has committed any crimes against Iraq. That could be why.

The US would have to stand trial on many things, however, the US has covered it's behind by not being party to any international or humanitarian law programmes where it might have its own citizens stand accused.

Wait how things unfold in a few years.
By the way, expect Saddam to be executed before he can open his mouth again to spill some Secrets.
You know these Secrets, don't you? :-)
