I found a free trial at Microsoft.com, don't remeber the URL though. Try typing - powerpoint free download - into the search bar of either - Yahoo search or locate it by Googling. I know there is a free version to create files and save them too because I recently downloaded it, and I don't pay for what I can access and use for free! I currently have it on my computer and have used it to create a slideshow. PS. I don't know the period of the trial, I have had it for about a month though so if you want to create somethings for use, once you have the program, get to work right away because they will not allow multiple trial downloads to the same PC. (don't ask me how they know if you have downloaded it before, but they do somehow.)
Hope this is helpful to you. Let me know how things go - Email me.

Forget about the free thing. Power Point is a program you purchase.
You can get a free Power Point viewer to let you view (see) Power Point creations, you just can't edit or create.
